Venice looks lovely, I think the architecture alone would be worth seeing - your photos are wonderful. I'm a huge fan of John Singer Sargent, we saw some of his work at the Laing in Newcastle last year (http://vintagepretty.org/2006/04/18/culture-vulture/ ), it was brilliant, simple and stately.

Your bridge is lovely, the sound of water flowing is one of my favourite sounds, so peaceful. Do you play pooh-sticks?

Enjoy being home! :)

What a lovely trip you had I would love to go to Venice and a nice welcoming return home. Your bridge is fantastic you are so lucky to live near water.

I have never been to Venice but would love to go. We have just come back from a week's holiday and it is so nice to be back home pottering around. I always get homesick when I am away! Your garden looks wonderful, lucky you to have a bridge and I like the photo of the black swan.

What a wonderful post. So many lovely things to see in Venice yet such beauty at home too! I can see why the painting would really move you, it really is incredible. your bridge is gorgeous too!

What beautiful photographs. Venice is a place that I hope to visit one day. You chose a good time to go before it gets too crowded.

I love your garden - I wouldn't be able to resist pooh sticks with that bridge!
