It's been a busy few days here so much so that I realise that I have not posted for over a week! As you can see from the photograph I have been busy! This little number is the subject of a number of recycled items, something very dear to my heart! Lately I have been drooling over blogs that have produced some very beautiful felted items. I found this fab blog called Betz Blog and it gives some very simple instructions on how to felt woolly jumpers so I thought I would have a go! Basically all you do is find a suitable jumper, I found the 100% wool ones the best, stick it in the washing machine on a hot wash (60 degrees) and there you have a lovely piece of felt all ready to work with. Betz gives the instructions on her blog. She makes the felt into cupcakes which are real pieces of artwork! Take a peek at her blog, it is well worth it! I found my jumpers at the local charity shop and the lining is an old shirt of my husbands
This one is ear-marked for my daughter when she visits next week!
Well early Summer has officially arrived here in sunny Kent. Temperature reached 28 c today, I saw my first swallow yesterday and I heard the cuckoo today, first time this year! I have been busy in the garden planting veggie seeds. The potatoes are in, organic Colleen the same as last year and I have also planted kale, carrots, parsley, spinach and I will put some peas in as soon as I buy the seed! Will keep you posted with the progress, hoping to get some photographs when there is something interesting coming through!
Last but not at all least, It is my husband's birthday today and while we were out we visited a local church which has some beautiful Chagall windows. This is going to be the subject of another post but to keep you going take a look at this.....
Isn't it just wonderful?
Well I am pretty pleased with this little bag, it has turned out better than expected considering I had to make my own pattern! I followed a tutorial from Lisa's blog, one of many that she is willing to share with others. I just love the fabric, it's a modern print on a retro theme called Laundry Day! This bag was a tryout to see just how to put it all together before I use some real vintage fabric that I bought from Donna
It's a 1940's vintage cotton which I just fell in love with. The broach is an ebay purchase that I will add to the bag once it is complete. I have try and locate a more vintage type frame to use although I do like the clean lines of the modern frame. Unfortunately I have a feeling that this little distraction might become a bit compulsive as I find myself considering allsorts of combinations. I'm off to have another Google on handbag frames! Friday nights are sooo exciting in Kent!
Have a good weekend everyone!
